The Millennium Pain Center promotes an active and productive research program, encompassing both pre-clinical and clinical investigations. MPC physicians are strongly encouraged, capably- guided, and financially supported in their pursuit of quality clinical and basic science research.
Pre-Clinical Research:
The Millennium Pain Center supports a pre-clinical research laboratory located on the campus of Illinois State University, Normal, IL. The primary areas of interest that are being actively pursued are in the areas of electrical spinal neuromodulation and pain treatment alternatives using pulsed-radiofrequency. Pre-clinical research is primarily focused on determining the mechanism by which these pain therapies reduce or eliminate pain sensation.
Clinical Research:
Clinical research is primarily focused directly or indirectly improving patient care in a cost-effective manner. MPC has Phase II, III, and IV trial study experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, drug and procedural clinical trials.
MPC conducts clinical trials for the treatment of:
Low Back Pain
Neck Pain
Osteoarthritis
Herpetic and post-herpetic neuralgia
Opioid-induced constipation
Fibromyalgia
Diabetic Neuropathy
Other chronic pain conditions
